Where’s the perfect place to start a new chapter in your love story - The Starting Gate at Great Horse, of course! That’s where Emily and Brian chose to gather, along with 200 of their closest friends and family. It was a late-September afternoon when we drove up to the top of the hill at Great Horse in Hampden, MA. The colors were blooming and the soft cloud cover could not have been more perfect! Walking into the bridal suite, we saw the details and got right to work! But we didn’t spend much time indoors because, with the gorgeous backdrop and near-perfect weather, Emily’s beautiful dress needed to be showcased outside. So off we went, dress in hand, to the gazebo which would later serve as their ceremony site. Carefully hung from the hand-crafted wood, I was able to capture the beauty of Emily’s simple yet elegant dress.
As hair by Hair Comes the Brides and makeup by Glam 2 Go Beauty Pro continued, Adam headed down to meet Brian. Great Horse has no shortage of rooms with flowing natural light and that is just what we needed to snap some GQ portraits of the groom. Brian was cool, calm, and collected as he made some quick adjustments to his tie. Before we set up for their First Look, Brian took a moment to himself to look out from the balcony and take it all in.
Now, it was showtime! Getting Emily and Brian in place for their first look means making sure there’s no chance they see each other until just the right moment. So with Brian outside the front door waiting patiently, and facing away, of course, Emily emerged with the happiest of smiles! With a little tap on the shoulder, Brian turned around in awe of his bride. These moments are the best because there’s nothing more natural and we capture them forever with each click of the shutter.
After sharing that initial moment, it was time to hop in some golf carts and explore the grounds of Great Horse, taking as many amazing portraits of Emily and Brian as we could. From her flowing veil to the flowing waterfalls, and beautifully decorated bridge, there is no shortage of scenery!
The ceremony was beautiful and a true celebration of their love story. You can even see the smile on my face as I shoot from atop the rock ledges overlooking the group. After the ceremony, it was time for a few more family portraits before getting an EPIC party started! DJ Craig from Marx Entertainment kept the dance floor rocking and rolling all night long! But don’t worry, we were able to sneak the newlyweds out for some breathtaking sunset photos! Couldn’t have asked for a better sky to pair with the view!
We met Emily at a previous wedding where she was a bridesmaid. She was fun and eager then, so to be a part of her big day was truly a pleasure because that fun and eager personality was shining bright once again, as she began the next chapter of her and Brian’s love story. Autumn at The Starting Gate - what a way to spend your wedding! Thanks for having us!
